Ocoopa Electric Hand warmer review

The Ocoopa electric hand warmer is one of our favorite staples in our winter gear closet. It is small, rechargeable (making it environmentally friendly, yay!), long lasting and most importantly oh so warm and toasty.

With 3 settings, this device can output heat levels of 107, 118, and 131 degrees fahrenheit.  We have found that on the first two settings it emits a cozy level of heat which radiates comfortably throughout any jacket you may be wearing. So far the only con that we have encountered with the Ocoopa is that the highest setting can get very hot. If you do buy one of these, consider using the lower two heat levels, or avoiding direct skin contact on the highest setting since burns can occur at temperatures as low as 125 degrees.

This device is advertised as having 8-15 hours of battery life depending on which setting is used. In the field this has translated to around 12 hours of battery life on mixed settings. We have stuck this on medium at the bottom of our sleeping bags on cold camping trips to give our feet some extra warmth and it is still running at full power the next morning.

The rechargeable aspect of the Ocoopa is great, it allows us to no longer spend money on chemical based hand warmers and have a long lasting, reliable mini-heater. A hidden perk to the Ocoopa is that it doubles as a battery for other devices. It features USB, USB C and Micro USB outlets that can allow you to charge a phone or other important devices in case of emergency. I personally wouldn’t deplete my heat source if I was stuck somewhere in the winter, but as a last resort it is a comfort to know I have a backup battery with me.

Overall, this device is small, lightweight, very portable and highly functional at its job. It can make what would be a frigid night outdoors into a fairly comfortable experience. At $32.99 it is affordable, customizable, with multiple color options and is something we highly recommend adding to your winter gear set up.
