Morrison Outdoor Sleeping Bag

Get to Know the Product

The Morrison Outdoor Sleeping Bag is the primary safe sleep sleeping bag option for babies and toddlers within the camping industry. The brand offers sleeping bags for babies, toddlers, children and adults but this blog will be focusing on their sleeping bag line for babies. We have used the Morrison Outdoor Sleeping Bag for our daughter since she was 7 months old and we have had a very positive experience with the product overall. The bag essentially acts like a traditional sleeping bag just with sleeves to keep your babies arms warm throughout the night. We have used their 20 degree bag and their 40 degree bag and have found both to be a very effective sleep option that we loved and our daughter loved.

Why We Like It

Little Mo 20 Degree Down Baby Sleeping Bag (6-24 Months):

This bag offered us a sleep safe and very warm sleeping bag option to start taking our baby camping with. The bag essentially functions like a sleep sack with closed sleeves (meaning that there is no opening for babies hands to poke through), making it a very easy transition from a babies sleep sack. The neck does not bunch around their face so there is no worry about this product becoming an issue for suffocation. The product was admittedly almost too warm. We purchased the bag rated for colder weather because we had some fall camping trips planned and we often had to unzip the bag to let our daughter cool down.

The bag’s zipper is easy to use and very rarely sticks in the exterior fabric. The neck of the bag is lined with a soft fleece like material so that it is comfortable against their skin. The biggest accolade that I can give this bag is that it allowed us to enter into camping with our baby with confidence as new parents. If you are a parent you know the anxiety surrounding making sure your baby is breathing through the whole night. This bag eliminated the worry of what they are sleeping in causing any potential breathing complications.

Little Mo Sleeping Bag (18-36 Months):

This bag has more or less the same features of the 6-24 month bag so I will keep this brief and highlight the two differences between the bags:

  1. The bag is bigger

  2. The sleeves have the option to open or close at the hands (which is a VERY good thing if your toddler hates the idea of their little hands being unavailable to them).

What We Don’t Like

This bag is expensive, retailing at $79.90 - $159.95 is steep for something your child might only use for one season. I personally bought this product on sale and would avoid buying it for full price if possible. I say this because the other thing I did not like was that I found their size rating to be pretty inaccurate. This bag fit my daughter for 6 months, we have a group of friends that we camp with that all have children around the same age as our daughter and they ran into the same issue. As a result I would say a more accurate size range for this bag is 6-12 months.

We needed to purchase the size up the following year, so spending roughly $300 on sleeping bags that will not be used long term was a bit of a hard pill to swallow. That being said Morrison does offer a trade in program that gets you discounts on future purchases. That being said you are at most getting $40 in trade in value back which puts your next purchase at over $100. This also does not work very well if you are planning on having more than 1 child and intend to use the bag for your next baby.

Would We Buy it again?

The short answer is yes. While I would have loved to have had more products to compare it to, it is currently the best option on the market and paying a premium for something that I know my child will be safe and warm in is worth it. If you would like to buy this bag please consider using our affiliate link, the money earned from this goes directly into our daughter’s college account and helps support her future.
